CoServ Members Engagement Group

CoServ Members Engagement Group is currently organizing with CoServ Electric Co-op members. CoServ is an energy co-op serving parts of North Texas in the Denton area.

In early 2023, CoServ drastically reduced what it pays for the electricity a homeowners’ rooftop solar system sends back to the co-op. The previous net metering policy gave rooftop solar owners a fair deal: Every kilowatt-hour the solar system sent back was priced precisely the same as every kilowatt-hour the customer purchased from the grid.

The new policy compensates at a fraction of the price at which a customer purchases electricity from the grid. This change dramatically extends the time it takes for a member to recoup their investment in a solar system.

But CoServ members have power! Together, we can organize and make CoServ the best co-op it can be, with better policies across the board, including for solar.
